Winner of the Drone Challenge 2018

[Dutch, (english text below)]
Proud! Robor Electronics/DRONExpert.nl is awarded to be The Netherlands Best Drone Innovation company by the Dutch government in the Drone Challenge 2018 organised by ‘Rijkswaterstaat‘!

Rijkswaterstaat had some questions for the participants in the #DroneChallenge: “Can drones help us to respond to incidents for first responders more quickly? And in what way? What can drone companies show us nowadays? What chances does it offer us in several years? And last; is the advised approach effective and executable?”

An incident was staged for this challenge. The scenario we had to work with last September, contained a collision with a vessel on the river De Waal with a drowning victim, load fallen off and an oil spill.

We approached this challenge by equipping the drones with all kinds of high tech gadgets like Obstacle Avoidance so they can detect and react to other drones and obstacles nearby. The drones can take-off and land autonomous. They can also ‘tag’ the accident scene automatically and place beacons which transmit gps-signals. With this technique other vessels nearby instantly knew where the partly submerged container was so they could avoid it.

Next to this challenge Prorail (responsible for the Dutch railroad infrastructure) added another challenge for the teams. Can a drone automatically take-off and land on a wagon without hitting the power lines above.
